Compound verbs (and other things...) [ July 18th, 2009 @ 1:26am ] learn_japanese [xjinxchanx] [ mood | tired ] Hello! I have a question about an oh-so-lovely verb form I've come across. I'm not sure how to ask, but the phrase/giant compound word thing I ran into is this: 寄り添い合って求め合う Splitting them up into four parts (yorisoi, atte, motome, au), I know what they all mean individually, but together I'm not sure at all. (Something about snuggling up to, if I'm guessing right.) I think ~tte + au means doing something together, or in a group? I've completely forgotten. On an unrelated note (or two)... When using adjectives, if the ending is changed from い to くて, does the meaning change at all? (寒い 寒くて, for instance.) Also, what would 自心 mean? Is it an actual word? I can't find it in WWWJDIC. It's pronounced 'jishin', and I've guessed it to mean heart or soul, but I don't know... It's not really important, I've pretty much given up hope on that particular translation. Just curious. I may not have replied back, but I read each comment, and I appreciate them all. Anniversaries are tough, but knowing I have awesome friends? Does make it a bit easier. Onto happier things. So, I went to see Tori Amos for the third time tonight. And it was an awesome concert. Okay, so there was a part where my grandma tried to infer I was becoming an alcoholic just because I have bottles of alcohol in my room, but whatever, other than that, awesome was had. I promised the setlist to acinogan so here we go: Abnormally Attracted To Sin Siren (I loooved the version she played. So fucking pretty, slower than the album version) Cornflake Girl Icicle Sugar Bells for Her Carbon Liquid Diamond Mary Jane (She told the story that inspired this song. It was pretty funny) Jackie's Strength China Lady in Blue Curtain Call Space Dog Mother Revolution Precious Things Encore: Police Me Big Wheel Tear In Your Hand Overall, great set. Lots of songs from Under The Pink which is one of my favorite albums by her. And she ended the concert with my favorite song off Little Earthquakes. So much win. I love her. She's just ASsrew amazing. Seriously. Plus, I was sitting next to the most adorable gay couple. The one boy squeed everytime she played a song he really loved.
